Technology

BOA CONDA

The patented K2 CONDA System allows you to tighten, loosen or adjust your liner on-the-fly – from outside of the boot! The first time you try this, you’ll wonder how you ever rode without it.

How it works: Whether attached to a Boa® reel or part of our K2 Conda™ system, the CONDA minimized harness is securely built into the shell of the boot and tightens around the liner to lock your foot in position. Focus is on the superior ankle support and heel hold. The harness lace is threaded through a floating tongue lace guide, allowing riders to customize fit for maximum comfort.

HARSHMELLOW BOOTS

Formulated for long lasting impact absorption and vibration killing, the same Harshmellow material used in boards and bindings can be found in our boots. Integrated in the heel and forefoot areas of our top boots, minimizing rebound and making landings softer and more controlled.

    Comments about K2 Snow Darko:

I live and work at the mountain. I've put these boots through the wringer and they've yet to fail me. They are extremely comfortable, warm, the perfect stiffness and the Boa system is the best on the market. It allows you to dial in your fit perfectly every time. Buy them. You won't regret it.

    Comments about K2 Snow Darko:

I had the 2011 K2 Darkos and they are awesome. Great fit, warm all the usual pro's off a boot but the BOA system is what I bought it for. It is amazing, it locks your foot down and you get a great adjustment of heal lift that you want, none being the usual case.
So being so pleased with them I bought the 2013 Darko's. Immediately noticed that they are a lighter boot, but definitely feel cheaper quality. Then when I looked at the BOA system noticed they had changed that from metal wire to string, obviously for the weight. So I went riding and on the 3rd time I went out in these the BOA system snappped and im not an aggresive rider or heavy set. So im now without boots for the season. I cannot give any sort of good rating on these when I cant use them. Unless they change the BOA system back to metal, then dont buy.

    Comments about K2 Snow Darko:

I used this boot for 3 straight days without heat molding. They are comfortable with a wide toe box and adequate space for a high instep. However on the second day, I was getting blisters on my right foot. I went to shop to change out the footbed. The shop rep said blisters were probably developed from a loose boot. I complained that the eyelets at the ankle area were hard to tighten due to the deep positioning within the boot. He agreed that it was a poorly designed lacing system. Another flaw is the construction of the outer liner rubs on the boa conda wire causing it to fray. This is superficial but after only 3 days of riding, it could cause future problems. I also would hope that K2 runs the boa conda cable on the lateral aspects of the conda system instead of on top of the instep. This would relieve some ankle strap pressure points.

Okay, more on the positve side. The liner is great with the velcro and the positioning of the asymetrical cuffs. Wide toe box. Nice built in J-bars. Feet felt warm and cozy. Socks stay dry not like my prior boots. Good flex, not too stiff and not too soft. Overall, great boot... and I hope K2 reads this review to improve it even more.

I tried a large selection of boots in multiple stores, and feel that this was the best offering.
